Breathing Meditation
Meditation indeed comes in many forms and techniques. If there is one way of mediating that is simple to learn it would definitely be breathing meditation. In the first place we all know how to breathe which makes it simple and really easy and it can also be an efficient way of getting into meditation.
To begin, you first need to look for a place that is tranquil, calm and quiet. This should be a place where you are sure that you will not be disturbed and distractions are out of the way. This way, focusing and concentrating on your breath would not be hard.
When you have found the perfect place, you need to sit down in a comfortable position and make sure your back is straight so that you won’t be tempted to fall asleep. Place your focus and concentration to your breathing. Breathing is one thing we take for granted. It is with this where we bring in oxygen to our body and helps us feel alive.
You can take in slow, long and deep breaths. Take note of the air that is filling up your lungs and how it slowly enters your body. When your lungs are filled with air, hold it for a second or two and slowly breathe out. Notice how the air leaves your nostrils and just feel healthier and better. Afterwards, repeat the whole process.
After doing the breathing meditation for five to ten times you will begin to feel more relaxed. What makes the breathing meditation great is that you can actually do it anytime and anywhere. It is very simple to learn that even kids can learn it too.
You will really be amazed how a simple technique can bring about many benefits and see how it can change you and your life for the better.
Why Should Meditation Be an Option?
Not all people know what meditation is really about and what it does for a person. One cause of this could be because of deceitful and false claims of people of the benefits of meditating and some people may have been let down of this false assurances and claims. That is why a lot of people may be sceptical to go into meditation along with the real benefits that it really brings.
In order for us to overcome this, it is important to understand and know better what meditation really does and what benefits go with it. We should eliminate all those false claims about meditation so we can set our expectations properly. It is true that meditation has a number of benefits and no one can argue with that.
But the question still remains, what do we really mean by Meditation? The principle behind meditation is it actually helps people to soothe their senses by calming down and clearing their thoughts. This permits a person to meditate on question they commonly ask, see clearly the ideas taking shape or even or difficult situations they seek solutions for. Some may think that meditation is a complex way of knowing and improving oneself but it is in fact less complicated that what most misconception is imposed on it.
The main reason behind why meditation is beneficial for a number of people is because it permits them ample time to better get hold and concentrate on understanding deeper problems or circumstances while they are in a calm and clear mind state. When we focus and set our attention to one thing we then see things in a different point of view. With the help of meditation, we get a better meaning and understanding of what life is really about; which then allows us to grow spiritually and help us become better persons.
Static and Moving Meditation and their Difference
In static meditation we stay still in the lotus position which means we do not need to engage in any movement and this is often times done alone. It is best done to have incense burned or have music played in the background. Whereas in moving meditation, a person doing this is in some sort of completing an athletic task. People in India and even those who are into martial arts are actually into moving meditation.
The choice really relies on the person to decide if practicing meditation will benefit him or her in their daily lives. It is not really safe to say that meditation has no benefits when in fact a number of people have been using this technique that has given them much improvement in their lives. The thing there is to actually see if meditation works for you if you give it a shot.
Meditation Practice: A means of Life
Science is already slowly showing the answers to speculations about how one very ancient practice can give dozens of benefits up to this day. In a place in Tibet, a Buddhist monastery greets everyone a stunning sculpture of elaborate carvings clouds and designs that are carefully painted in colors that will catch your eyes but as winter comes, the great sculpture melts into just memories.
Believe it or not, the sculpture is made of butter is one of the highland’s many symbols of “transient nature of spirit”. Life here may seem real simple but hard at the same time. People from the village ride bicycles on their way to work just before the sun rises and heads home by the time the sun has already set. Most of the people here live in homes that only have dirt floors and homes that are rickety already.
When getting inside the homes made of mud-brick, you will not be greeted with any furniture not even a table or chair but you will very well see a bed that can cater eight people. But despite these, the warm smiles from the locals are very welcoming and they will not hesitate to invite you for tea. It is such a wonder on how these people can actually live a life with such calmness when it is ironic for us from the city to see life ideally in a home with all that we want and need when these people basically have less then what we need. You will notice how these people do their work with such passion and tranquillity may it be ploughing in the fields or even sewing in their own homes.
For some who choose to see meditation as not only a practice but a means of life, bravely giving up all those worldly possessions and just let go of everything and join the Tibetan monks is the path they choose to take. But you do not have to worry because meditation depends on your perspective. This only goes to show that may it be meditating on a mountain top or doing it a peaceful corner of your home, meditation can give you so many benefits. Recent research has even shown that meditation for just 10 minutes already has remarkable effects. Meditation has clearly evolved; in fact, it is reaching out to adjusting to the modern day lifestyle of people just to give out its benefits.
Meditation for Busy People
Meditation is the best method of relieving yourself from stress and anxiety and it is perfect for everyone. But these days, some people would think that meditation will just eat up their time and fill in with their busy day but what they do not know is that meditation does not require too much space or even time. You can very well meditate at any place, any time where ever you go. All you need to know is the method which you can use to make sure you can meditate for that span of time and at that place.
For starters, you may choose to join a group that is practicing meditation and know the different techniques that meditation has to offer to surroundings that are not typical for meditation. A meditation instructor could very well help you know what meditation techniques will work best for you and including how to achieve your personal goals.
You do not need to place so much time on meditation. All you need is just a few minutes every day and know what goals you want to reach. An early morning just before you leave for work is the perfect time to meditate. This is the time when you feel fresh from sleep and this time could be the quietest as well. This way your head is cleared and you feel that you are calmed and armed for your busy day.
When you are much of a traveller, you may always bring with you slow music or classical pieces that you can listen while on a plane, bus or train or practically everywhere. Even 5 minutes of just focusing on your breath and letting the slow music carry you is already a means of relaxation and meditation. Or for some people, after work is also a time where you can meditate. It helps you clear your mind from all the clutter in your thoughts and stress that you are carrying with you.
Scented candles or simply scents can help you meditate. Aromatherapy is also linked to meditation for such a long time. It can help you relax and just feel comfortable and rested while smelling those wonderful scents and closing your eyes as your mind becomes lighter after being cleared from all those worries and stressful thoughts.
